lately we have been in the home repair mood, if you haven't already noticed. today we took on the task of replacing our kitchen floor. the people who lived here before us put in this AWFUL grayish linoleum. they did a terrible job and didn't even cover the entire floor. whatever. we have been unhappy with ever since we moved in, but didn't do anything until now. we ripped out the old 2 layers and put down a new fresh, better looking one. we love it and find ourselves in the kitchen staring at the floor. (no joke)

bull

so, ive been known not to be the most graceful sort of person. i run into things, drops things, knock things over, and fall down quite a bit. my friend brent has been diagnosed with the same symptoms; probably not as severe as myself, but in any case, we've been compared to bulls by our significant others. its a title i wear loud and proud and i hope brent does too. so here i am embracing my role as a "bull".

what the...

we found this treat in our backyard a couple days ago. i don't have anymore words for the things that like to haunt me. one thing i do know is that i'm over it.

new bath tub??

when we moved into this house the bath tub was
a bit undesirable. i chalked it up to it being old and
that the stains and "brownness" was due to its age.
gross i know, but it could live with it. i just didn't
want people seeing it so i always made sure the shower curtain
remained closed. well, one day last week i came home to this wonderful
surprise. brady had spent all day scrubbing and scrubbing
and i seriously thought that bath fitter had come and
put in a new shower/tub, but really brady had just
gave it it's beautiful sparkle. i LOVE it. and now i don't
have to worry about keeping the curtain closed all
the time. it's ok if someone sees it now. it looks so new.

we went to VA beach this weekend with matty and jess to
have fun and do some camping. we hung out on the
beach the first day and got really burned so the
next day was short lived on the beach unfortunately, but
we had fun none-the-less.

run like a girl

so i did it. i finished my first race ever. it was an 8K in pocahantas state park in richmond. i really enjoyed myself. i ran it with my friend from work, amy. we stayed together the whole time and finished together. it was fun and im now thinking i want to do another one. this was quite an accomplishment for me. i dont fancy myself to be a runner, but i might have to change that.

oh yea, and i fell down a little after half way through.
not too surprising if you know me very well. i tripped
on a root coming out of the ground and was known
by some as "stump girl". i guess some people thought that
i tripped over a stump. im not sure, but this thing
is going to be a doozy in a couple days. ill
post its progress in color change.

new bed

hallelujah. it is here. our new bed. hopefully now we wont be having anymore creatures crawling on us at night. as much as we enjoyed the simplicity of a mattress on the floor it wasnt worth the terror of having creatures crawl on us. i know the bed isnt made and my mom did teach me better, but to be honest i never make the bed and yes, thats 2 comforters. one for me, one for brade. we dont share. its the way of the future.

brady and i decided to FINALLY get all the fall leaves picked up earlier this week. while we were raking and picking up piles and dumping the crap into the woods we came across this little creature. im so tired of finding creatures like this in my house, car and yard. first we had the black snake wrapped around my steering wheel, then the black widow in the driveway, then the centipede in our bed, and now this stupid thing in our "flower beds" if you can even call them that. i will be happy to move out of this house just so i can get away from these terriful creatures.

her name, but ill just call her mrs. jamestown.

over the weekend we spent sometime in williamsburg with our friends brent and elissa. we spent all day friday at busch gardens (no pics unfortunately). it was a great day. not too hot, not too crowded, good food and good company. we spent the night in williamsburg and on saturday took in a bit of history at jamestown. we took a tour from this awesome lady who knew EVERYTHING, and i mean everything about jamestown. she was my favorite part of the jamestown experience even though she talked WAY too much and kinda bored me, but her quirkiness was entertaining. i'm not a huge fan of standing in the hot sun and being talked to about things that aren't very interesting to me, but going to jamestown was my idea, so i can't really complain.

my arch enemy

i had some really good homemade salsa a few weeks ago and have been determined to make a batch of my own. now, in doing this i realized that i would have to chop up onions. they are the food i despise the most. i have never even brought an onion home let alone chop one up. the taste is gross, the smell is even worse, but i was going to do it. so, even through all the runny noses and watery eyes it was worth it. the salsa turned out great and i would do it again, but only for salsa, nothing else.

it's our anni

so, today marks the beginning of our 5th year of marriage. i can't believe it. where did the time go? i'm not sure, but what i do know is that i feel very lucky to be married to brade. he keeps me laughing and smiling and eventhough we have our rocky times (don't we all?) i have never in my life felt so sure about anything. these past 5 years have been some of the best of my life. i'm glad to have him with me through the tough times and the great times. here's to year #5. let's see what life brings us. i love you B!!!!

for those of you who know me pretty well, you know
that i dont really have a particular like/love for dogs but
this dog was different. this is coco. she is such a likeable dog
and while we were at the lake i came to really become pals with
her. that's no easy feat for a dog to come into my good graces.

look, i even wanted to get on the ground and take a
picture with her. so yes, i really did like her...

this past weekend my good friend britt (we met in hair school) and her husband kevin invited us down to smith mountain lake. her parents own a house there. we had so much fun getting together with them. they cooked for us the whole weekend, which was fabulous and very much appreciated. and eventhough it rained the majority of the weekend we had fun and even went on boat and sea doo rides. brady got himself lost and almost ran out of gas in the process so it was a good thing we rescued him when we did. it was great getting together with brittney and kevin becuase we don't get to see them often enough. THANKS GUYS!!!!

runners delight

alright my friends. i'm coming to the runner's world. i signed up for an 8k race on may 31 and am kicking my butt in gear to get ready for it. its called run like a girl, and that's exactly what i'll be doing. a couple of my friends from work (jess & amy) are doing it with me so i can't back out now. they won't let me. so today marked the first day of my "training", if you can even call it that. wish me luck!

spring is here...yeah right!!

i don't know if you've ever heard that the spring
time in virginia is one of the nicest times here. i'm beginning to think that's all just a bunch of crap. here we are at the end of april. it should be beautiful. warm, not hot, no humidity, breezy. well, if the past couple of days have anything to do with spring, i dont want any part of it. its horrible. its hot (95), humid, and sweaty. i feel just like this cartoon world. i hate this time of year. cant wait for fall.

new world or old?

since ive been doing this blog thing (new world) i have let my scrapbooking thing (old world)
go to the wayside. and the reason is because i feel that anything i would
scrapbook (old world) about i have already blogged (new world) about.
now, i know you can get your blog printed and bound in books, which
is awesome, but i still have this fear that if i dont print my photos
and manually put them in books that i wont have the memories documented.
oh man, its a dilemma im having between that old world (scrapbooking)
and this new one (blogging). what ever will i do?

lindSAYsew

so, ive started this necklace making thing. it started out
as a little crafty hobby and has turned into a real money
maker. im always up for a new craft and seeing as how i cant
sew beautifully (even though i wish i could) ive taken on
other ways to bring out my craftiness. when i started making these
little gems i was just giving them away to friends/family
and when my boss got a hold of one she came up with the idea
to display them at the shop and see if anyone is interested. and by golly,
people seem to be VERY interested. i was a little surprised. so now
with the help of my boss jodi, we are on a necklace making roll.
she strings the necklaces and i "sew" them. hence
the name lindSAYsew. our clients are loving
them and we are having so much fun making them.

wake-up call

this morning i woke up to brade giving a grizzly bear yell and a twitch. i rolled over and looked at the clock. it read 5:43. a couple seconds later another grizzly bear yell and twitch came. "what's wrong?", i asked. he said it felt like something bit him. the first yell came from a bite he felt on his stomach and the second was on his thigh. and dagon, something did bite him. it was this little bugger we found a few minutes later crawling on my comforter. it was terriful. im scared to get in my bed again. i guess there's a reason people put their bed up off the ground.

an eggy day with oobleck

so, our good true friends came over last night and we had an easter egg hunt for the guys and then dyed eggs. i haven't done either of those in years so it was fun to act like kids again. while elissa and i were dying eggs, brent and brade were doing "science experiments". it was really fun. brade made some oobleck and we played with it for awhile when all our eggs were done taking their colored baths. if you dont know what oobleck is, im sorry, cuz its really some fun stuff.
