hikesgiving

we spent thanksgiving on a hike near charlottesville, va

on a trail called crabtree falls.  it was a beautiful day 

and we had a great time being outside and enjoying

each other.  brady's mom (nana), her friend paul (pauly),

and my mom (mimi) joined us.  pauly made a turkey

the day before so we made turkey sandwiches out of them

to enjoy at the top of the mountain and then went back

to nana's house for leftovers and pumpkin pie.  YUM!!

cailin wasn't too thrilled to get on my back in the backpack.

she would rather hold pauly's hand the whole way.

too bad that would have made the hike forever long.

she cried and whined for about 10 minutes and then

surrendered to being a monkey on my back.

she was over taking pictures and decided to hide

her face as soon as brade came over.  rude baby.

she rested her head on my neck most of the climb.

here we are enjoying our lunch.

 she brought this littlest pet shop "baby"

up with her and was obsessed with rolling her down

the  slope and then left "baby" up there.  we got 

to hear about it the whole way down.

"uh oh, baby go?  oh no, baby on mountain."

sweet little girl.

brady carried her down which was a good

decision because i fell.....twice.  not surprising for

anyone who knows me well.

no nap

 cailin has decided that she doesn't need to nap anymore.  

seriously.  she hasn't taken a nap in about 10 days. 

instead she talks to herself, sings, throws things out of 

her crib, pulls the curtains into her crib,

and then after about an hour yells for someone to 

get her out.  she mostly sounds like this, "mama,

i see you.  all done.  kk no nap.  out.  out.  

daaaaaddddyyy.  no nap.  kk all done." 

she usually says those few phrases over and over

again until one of us goes in and rescues her from her jail.

seems to me that she is too young at not even 2 1/2 to ditch the

nap, but i can't make her go to sleep so we just tell her she

needs to go in her room for some quiet time with books and

 a few toys.  it seems to work, but it only lasts an hour before she's "all done".  

oh well, we'll take what we can get.  yikes!!!

raking and a monkey

cailin helped brady rake the other day.

actually brady raked for about 10 minutes

and then i finished the job, but here's cailin helping daddy.

brady made her her own rake out of a 

beach toy and a stick from our blinds.

she loved it as you can tell.

and cailin likes to call herself a monkey

and then jump on your back.

so, here she is being a monkey on daddy's back.

shoes!

lately this one has been into shoes.  she wakes

up asking to put on her shoes.  today she

pulled out her shoe bucket and tried on almost

every pair.  she's a funny misses.

uhhh, mom i don't want to look at you

and smile.  i just want to put these

shoes on.

and then she grabbed 2 balls put them

in her shirt and said, "a boobies."

you sleeping in there?

its a little bit hard to see but this is how

brade found cailin taking her nap a

couple days ago.  she had pulled the curtains

in her crib and crawled under her pillow.

i guess she just wanted more light.
