baby cailin

here i am still pregnant just a few minutes after
being admitted to the hospital. nothing had really
started yet, hence the big smile.

this is the story of my labor and delivery, if you don't really care just scroll down to see pics of our little sweet baby girl, Cailin. so on with the details. on friday june 11, i went to my doctor's appointment just like i've been doing every friday. i expected it to be a regular 5-10 minutes appt. like it usually is and then i'd be on my way to finish prepping for the baby to arrive. well, after my BP was taken and such my doc came in and said we have a problem. your BP is really high, (my BP has been very regular throughout the whole pregnancy) you have protein in your urine and your feet are way too swollen for my liking. so she said, we are having a baby today and sent me to the hospital. i was shocked. i wasn't even dilated!!!! so i call brade, get in my car and drive across the street to the hospital. they got me in and immediately started me on pitocin. it was 1:30 pm. at 5 the doctor came in and broke my water. That was sooo painful. I hated it. she was unsuccessful the first time and had to go back and do it again. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? i really hated it. and then at 9:00 pm i was barely a 1. what??? i held off as long as i could to get the epidural and at 11 i had had enough. my lower back was KILLING me and i was done writhing around the bed in pain. so i asked for the epi expecting to get it immediatley, but they had to pump a whole bag of fluids in my body before i could get it. i was DYING. not really, but i kinda felt like it. im a wuss, obviously. so finally at midnight my BFF Dr. Lindsey (the anesthesiologist) came in and took my pain away. then i was in heaven, but i was still only a 1. with the epidural the nurse was able to up the pitocin to make me dilate faster and boy did i. at 4 am i was a 6 and by 730 am i was a 9 1/2 and ready to push. Push?? i was really nervous. the nurse came in and i started pushing, but i couldn't feel ANYTHING so i didn't know how to follow her instructions and she was getting frustrated with me which in turn made me frustrated. After about 30 minutes of going no where, or so it seemed, my epidural started to wear off a bit, which i was terrified of happening, and i could feel the contractions. it actually was a good thing because then i could feel enough of what i was supposed to do and 5 contractions later she was out. THANK GOODNESS. Cailin Claire came into the world at 8:51 am on June 12,2010 weighing in at 6 lbs. 14 oz. and 19 3/4 inches long. we love her.
our first meeting. she doesn't look happy to see me,
but boy was i happy to see her. haha.

Yay! She's so cute! Congrats mommy and daddy. And Cailin, seven or something years from now when you can read, just know that you're just about as lucky as a little baby girl can be to have such awesome parents.

SO Excited for you, this is when the REAL journey begins! She is so cute and I'm so happy for you guys. I have to tell you that when I was in labor with Aaden, I was in so much pain that I was requesting the epidural at the front desk and truthfully I professed my love to the Anesthesiologist after he gave me the epidural. I totally get it! Have fun you 3!
